With the fabulous 50s comes a myriad of other social, economic, physical and mental changes and I am fighting every one with a ferociousness that I haven't pursued even in my younger, more dormant days.
Getting up with aches and pains is bad enough, but I can actually feel my body getting older. Trouble is my mind continues to believe my age is somewhere between 15 and 35 years old. Having a knee now that bothers me in slightly more irritating methods is creeping up on me. Something different is floating around in my right breast and another mammography this week will produce more information about that. The bigger problem is that, because of whatever is the weird shape is, my doctor has taken me of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) drugs and my hot flashes are coming back with a vengeance! At the peak, I was having more than 100 of these horrible hot spells every day!
So, at our local library, I picked a book by Wendy Lustbader entitled, "Life Gets Better The Unexpected Pleasures of Growing Older." More later on that.

Okay, I like Obamacare
Obamacare turns two years old today. It's a big day for the young law. That's why people across the country are joining us today in saying Thanks Obamacare.
- Thanks from the 20 million women in the U.S. who have taken advantage of the law's preventative care benefits.
- Thanks from the 973,000 Coloradans who received at least one new preventative service in 2011.
- Thanks from the 28 million children in the U.S. for getting rid of lifetime coverage benefits.
- Thanks from the 2.5 million people under the age of 26 who are now able to stay on their parents' health insurance.
- Thanks for making sure no woman is ever denied coverage by removing pregnancy and domestic abuse as pre-existing conditions.

Shaving my Head
Welcome to my blog. On St. Patrick's Day, 2012 I am participating in the ninth annual St. Baldrick's biker challenge fund raiser for local children who have cancer. I will shave my head. While my hair is shortish, the hair can be used for brushes. I've always wanted to shave my head and have been thisclose on several occasions! So I am thrilled to be able to do this during my 51 year.
Another reason is that I am sick of having to color my hair every month! I will save money. Wear a hat for the first time in my life. I will look different, and believe me us Aquarians love that! More later - hairless!
